My father frequently participated in my work, and this was the last project we undertook together before his death, which is fitting, given the piece's direct engagement with issues of mortality. Lasting just one minute, the video offers proof of life — the fog of his breath on the mirror — of someone no longer alive. All representation performs this deception in one way or another. This work makes that illusion central.
