I'm interested in the way highly internal experiences manifest themselves outwardly, on people's faces and bodies. Focusing specifically on the faculty of smell, I went to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and aimed my camera from a distance at a particularly fetching lilac bush. Each plant there has its own identifying code. This one's is X02180-A. Not as many people leaned in to smell it as I expected, but I was happy to document ten minutes of X02180-A's day and to sample the wide variety of human/plant interactions on display.
